Abstract

Se comprende que el afianzamiento de toda nueva profesión sea difícil en la compleja y egoísta sociedad actual. Pero será siempre vergonzoso para los patrocinadores de la vieja tesis, impugnar todavía la profesionalización del periodista y aupar la ilegalidad a pretexto de que "los inteligentes"" pueden hacerlo todo. Por desgracia, la legislación actual es insuficiente y no tiene medios coercitivos para frenar los abusos y para imponerse sobre la arbitrariedad. Queda por delante la lucha por la defensa de la Ley de Ejercicio Profesional del Periodista. La Federación Nacional de Periodistas debería encabezar esta lucha en la que, Colegios como el de Pichincha, quieren colocarse a la vanguardia."
