Abstract

En los últimos años se ha incrementado el interés por la investigación en la fotografía abarcando los múltiples ámbitos en los que es utilizada. Pese a que los trabajos y la bibliografía son aún incipientes, se puede analizar varios aspectos relativos de esta materia. La mayor parte de trabajos realizados estudian la fotografía desde el lado artístico o de autor, o desde la perspectiva semiótica. Este trabajo muestra de manera sucinta la introducción de la fotografía en el territorio ecuatoriano y los primeros pasos del fotoperiodismo en los medios de comunicación impresa, así como en algunas ediciones no periódicas.
