"La prensa escrita en América Latina""(1960) fue la primera investigación realizada por el CIESPAL, seguida de otra ""Dos semanas en la Prensa de América Latina"" con la cual se inicia el análisis morfológico y de contenido que influyó decisivamente en el rumbo de los estudios de periodismo y Comunicación Social en el continente. Continua con la reseña de lo que fue la trayectoria de la investigación en el CIESPAL."
